Note regarding birch trees There are some native birch tree types and some non-native. All birch tree types are highly desirable for their ornamental bark and crown shape. Customer telephone inquiries and questions about birch trees pose some misconceptions. Suburbanites are often hesitant to plant birch trees because of deer. Deer do not destroy birch trees They only eat tree seeds, leaves, and nibble on branches that they can reach while grazing. Some birch types have a noticable wintergreen scent when small branches are broken-open.
The typical cause of birch tree decline whether in the forest, suburbs, or urban areas, is insect disease or inadequate growing conditions such as soil quality, lack of sufficient daily sunlight, or older age of trees.
Birch trees require at least half-day sunlight and moist soil conditions. Moist soil conditions can be achieved by planting with the right combination of soil-peat and and an overlay of mulch. Some types of birch are more resistant to insect disease than other types

Trees and other plants are sold wholesale and retail.
Silk Tree Gardens has a wide selection of trees for customers to choose for their home and garden landscaping.
American Redbud, Magnolia, and Paperbark Maple are now being grown at the tree nursery. Jacaranda will also be available again for portable patio planters or bonsai plantings.
All plants are grown at Silk Tree Gardens either from seeds or propagation of rooted clippings. All plants sold are guarranted for 1 year. Thank you for your patronage!
